For DJs learning to build sets

Upload your playlist. Get a set plan that explains every transition.

DJ Coach reads the playlist you already have and, in seconds, returns a play order with an execution card for every transition: when to start it, which technique to use, and why it works.

What to do

Ride the outgoing up to 127.9 BPM; at 5:10 (32 bars left) bass-swap in, keylock on.

Real engine output, placeholder track names

No audio upload — your music stays with you.

Free for up to 30 tracks per plan, on 2 decks — or 4 during early access — no sign-up. Works with rekordbox XML, Traktor NML, Serato crates (you add BPM/key), Engine DJ CSV and M3U8.

A coach, not a machine

Where set prep breaks today

  1. A match, not a move

Your DJ software can already suggest which track fits next. It tells you that it fits — not how to play the move: which technique, what to do with your hands.

  2. Sync hides the reasoning

The beats line up, so a bad choice does not sound broken — it just quietly empties the floor, and nothing on screen tells you why.

  3. AI mixers can play it for you

They can arrange and blend a whole mix for you, and you can fine-tune it on a timeline. Great for a mixtape — but the software performs each blend, and a live set needs your hands to do it.

  4. Feedback comes too late

For many DJs the only review is the room itself, at 1am, once — and by then the set is over.

What DJ Coach does instead

  • Reads the playlist you already have — names, BPM and key. No audio upload: your music never leaves your computer.

  • Returns a play order, a start point for every transition, a bridge BPM when the gap is too wide, and a named technique for each seam.

  • In 4-deck mode (free during early access), the card adds layers on decks 3–4 where there is room — a percussion loop under a long blend, a riser into a lift.

  • Explains each decision in key and tempo — and where on the phrase grid to start — so you can plan the next set yourself.

  • With a free account, you mark each transition after a gig — worked, rough or skipped — and get a keep/improve summary for that set right away. After 8 sets marked this way, the coach finds your weak spots and builds a short practice plan around them.

DJ Coach next to the tools you know

Keep the software you use. DJ Coach reads its playlist file and adds what it doesn't give you: how to play each transition.

ToolWhat it does for your set
rekordboxPrepares and plays your library — beat and phrase analysis, automatic cue points, playlists — plus Intelligent Playlists, related-track suggestions and Mix Point Link, which starts the next track by itself at a mix point you set.
Mixed In KeyAnalyzes key, energy level and cue points for each track and writes them into your library. The Pro edition’s DJ Mix mode suggests next tracks by key, energy and BPM and lets you test the mix on two decks.
DJ.StudioOrders your tracks harmonically, builds the mix on a timeline, and exports the mix or a ready playlist for your DJ software.
KeyMatchAn iPhone, iPad and Mac app that builds an in-key set with an energy curve from your tracks, imports rekordbox playlist exports, and suggests in-key next tracks while you play (Live Mode).
DJ CoachTells you how to play each transition — which technique, which bar to start on, how to ride a tempo gap — and why it works, in plain words. In your browser, on top of the tools above.

How

Around 5:20 of "Copper Sun" (37 bars left — confirm the phrase '1' on the waveform): start "Deep Meridian" with its low EQ killed and bring its fader up over 4–8 bars.

Why

11A→11B share the same notes (relative major/minor) — a change of colour, not of energy. 132→133 BPM (0.8% gap). Small key/tempo moves — steady (not an energy rating).

  • Pitch "Deep Meridian" to 132 BPM; after "Copper Sun" is gone, ride back to 133 BPM at ≤1% per phrase. One-move bass swap on the next '1' — never both basses full.

How it works

  1. Upload a playlist

rekordbox XML, Traktor NML, Serato crate, Engine DJ CSV or M3U8 — no sign-up, no audio upload. rekordbox and Traktor files already carry BPM and Key; for the others you fill in what is missing in the table.

  2. Get an explained plan

A recommended order, a start point for every transition, a bridge BPM when needed, and alternatives at every node — with a "why" for each decision.

  3. Download the reordered playlist

You get a new playlist file in the recommended order, with the same name plus “(Fixed)”. rekordbox, Traktor and Serato import it as a playlist; for Engine DJ it's a booth sheet to follow (Engine can't import playlist files). Your library is untouched.

Supported formats

rekordbox XMLTraktor NMLSerato crateEngine DJ CSVM3U8

rekordbox and Traktor files already carry BPM and Key. Engine DJ's CSV has BPM but no Key. M3U8 files and Serato crates carry neither, so you fill them in the table.

Questions from the booth

Do I need to upload music?
No. The file contains metadata only — names, BPM and Key. Your audio stays with you, and we do not keep the file after parsing.
What if BPM or Key is missing?
M3U8 files and Serato crates carry no BPM or Key at all, and Engine DJ's CSV has BPM but no Key. Fill them in the table before the plan, or continue without — we then pick a conservative approach for those transitions and say so honestly.
How much does it cost?
Free: a full plan for up to 30 tracks, on 2 or 4 decks (4 decks free during early access), no sign-up — and with a free account, up to 10 sets in your history. Pro, which raises the limit to 100 tracks per set and keeps unlimited history, is coming soon at $7.99 / month or $79 / year.
Does it know my phrases?
When your rekordbox or Traktor file has a valid beatgrid, start points land on its bars; otherwise the card marks the grid as assumed. Either way it tells you which bar to check by ear — phrase analysis isn’t included in exported playlist files.

Your next set starts with a single file

Your audio stays with you. We read track names, BPM, Key, beatgrid and file locations — never audio. We do not keep the file after parsing; a set you save keeps its file locations so it can be exported.
